Karen Ann Brent

March 25, 1948 — September 14, 2013

Karen Ann Nichols Brent was born March 25, 1948, in Beaumont, Texas and passed peacefully from this earth on September 14, 2013, in Conroe, Texas. Karen was a lifelong resident of Conroe. She graduated from Conroe High School in 1966. In her professional life she was a well-known and highly respected legal assistant for more than 30 years. She took great pride in her work, and her knowledge and execution of real estate documents. Karen loved to travel with her husband, family and friends to Port O'Connor, Texas, where she would fish, relax and spend time on Sunday Beach. For many years she assisted in planning her high school class reunions. She attended the Navy reunions of the USS Montrose APA 212 with her husband Richard. At the 2012 Reunion in Savannah, Georgia, she was awarded the title of Ms. Congeniality. Karen's grandchildren were her greatest joy. She loved spending time with them, taking them on trips, exposing them to new and fun adventures and spoiling them at every opportunity. Her beloved nephews were also the recipients of her generous spirit. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Buck and Sue Nichols. She is survived by her husband of 36 years Richard Brent; her children, Sam Senor and Brandi Brent Carlile; her grandchildren Brandon, Brooke and Kenady; her sisters and brothers-in-law Sharon and Lewis Walker, and Darin and Beryl Bailey; her brother, Scotty Nichols; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Sharpless for the medical care and support that he provided to Karen; and also the nurses and staff at Conroe Regional Medical Center for the care and compassion they showed her in the final days of her life. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that charitable donations be made in Karen's memory to the Volunteer Services Council of the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, Brenham, Texas 77833.
