We are saddened to announce that Justin Aloysius “Jud” Schleper passed away on July 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He lived a full and meaningful life of 89 years, with his beloved wife, Kathryn Schleper, by his side for the last 39 years.
Jud was born on April 7, 1937, in Carlton, Illinois, to his parents, Aloys and Teresa Schleper, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his siblings, Barbara, Jerry, Tom, and Mary. He attended Jersey Community High School before earning a degree in Marketing from Southern Illinois University.
Throughout his life, Jud held many hands-on jobs, specializing in acquiring and selling electrical equipment. Even after retirement, he remained a natural fixer, always ready to repair anything from an ice machine to a set of gutters. He was an active member of the Walden community and a devoted parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Plantersville. He enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in Thursday night karaoke.
Jud is survived by his daughters, Tammy and Tiffany, as well as his stepchildren, Jessica, Gene with his wife Missy, and Heather with her husband Tim. He was a loving grandfather to Harley, Ian, Elyse, Garrett, Katie, Allyson, Laura, Kyle, Morgan, and Mitchell, and a proud great-grandfather to Carl, Tucker, and Isla.
Jud was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Jud’s life will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas, on Wednesday July 15, 2026. The service will start with visitation from 9:45am to 10:15am then at 10:15 Rosary and service to start at 10:30am with burial to follow and lunch after. All who knew and loved Jud are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Heart to Heart Hospice and/or Frassati Catholic High School in Jud’s memory.
