Better known as Cissy, she was born in Paris, Tn on November 6, 1924 to Tilden
and Gama Wright. She was the second of four sisters. She graduated from Grove
High School and soon Married Charles F. Nichol. Shortly after World War II they
moved to Conroe where they raised two children ( Tommy Nichol and Carolyn
Nichol). During this time Cissy worked at Nichol Auto Supply, and later at the first
Sherwin Williams Paint store in Conroe. She was active in several organizations as
well as making sure that Tommy and Carolyn were active in sports, scouts and
dancing lessons. She was a very busy Mother. As the years went by, she became a
second mother to a lot of other young people as they have recently expressed to
us.
Cissy later married Ed Gilchrist where she became stepmother to Alex Gilchrist
who she helped raise. For a period of about ten years they lived in Phoenix, AZ.
Cissy them moved back to Conroe where she lived a quiet life and enjoyed her
new friends and the Conroe Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son Tommy Nichol and wife Kimberly, daughter Carolyn
Hook and husband Bobby, and stepson Alex Gilchrist and wife Roxie. She is also
survived by grandchildren Charlie Nichol, Christopher Hook, Coty Gilchrist
Kitkoski, and Holly Gilchrist Jones. There are seven great grand children.
