Jonathan Smith, 43, of Houston, Texas, passed away on January 6, 2025. A proud Navy veteran, devoted husband, loving father, steadfast brother, and loyal friend. Jonathan left an enduring legacy of love, courage, and compassion.
Born on January 29, 1981, Jonathan was the son of Anthony Smith and Maryanne DeVau Smith. Jonathan had a special bond with his father and an enduring bond with his stepmother Edna Smith.
Jonathan dedicated his life to service, family, and humanity. His childhood was short-lived. At the separation of his birth parents, he assumed adult responsibility becoming the caretaker, protector, and provider for his sister Jillian. While other kids his age played, Jonathan worked odd jobs to ensure his sister’s needs were met. His early life experiences instilled in him a sense of love, dedication, loyalty, integrity, honor, and humanity to family and friends.
At nineteen, Jonathan joined the United States Navy, where he served honorably and was decorated with the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for saving a fellow sailor's life. After leaving the Navy, Jonathan dedicated his life to caring for his family, being the bond that held the family together, and supporting his fellow man. Jonathan was a devoted husband to Elisa, sharing 14 years of marriage built on love, laughter, and shared dreams. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home filled with cherished memories.
As a father, Jonathan was a beacon of wisdom, strength, and unconditional love to Kayla, Jaylin, Harper, and William, leaving a profound and lasting impact on their lives. As a brother, Jonathan brought warmth, loyalty, and humor to his family, forming bonds of love and support that will endure in the hearts of his siblings. Known for his quick wit, warm heart, and generous spirit, Jonathan was a true friend to all who knew him. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, share a story, or offer a kind word, making everyone feel valued and supported.
Jonathan is survived by his father, Anthony Smith; his stepmother, Edna Smith; his loving wife, Elisa; his children, Kayla, Jaylin, Harper, and William; his siblings, and a host of family and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Jonathan Smith will be laid to rest with full military honors at Houston National Cemetery, surrounded by those who loved him. His legacy of kindness, love, and dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
