John J McGlynn

December 22, 1939 — March 4, 2026

John J. McGlynn, 86, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away peacefully at home with his family on March 4, 2026. Born on December 22, 1939, in Glasgow, Scotland, John was the beloved son of James and Catherine McGlynn.

John spent his early years in Scotland before moving to New York at the age of 15, where he built a life rooted in hard work and family. He worked for Hoffmann-La Roche Pharmaceuticals, Leonia School Systems and later retired from the Doorman's Union in New York City.

John had a deep love for his family and cherished every moment spent with them. He was an avid reader who could finish novels in just a few days and had a lifelong passion for music, often filling his days with songs of all kinds. A devoted supporter of the Glasgow Celtic Football Club, John rarely missed a chance to follow his favorite team.

In retirement, John found joy in simple pleasures—sitting on his deck, listening to music, and sharing his sharp wit and humor with those around him. He will be remembered for his intelligence, warmth, and the laughter he brought into the lives of others.

John is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sarah McGlynn; his daughter, Angela Morrison, and son-in-law Scott Morrison; his cherished granddaughters, Megan Morrison and Shannon Morrison; and his sister, Moira Denny.

A service to honor John’s life will be held at Saint Anthony’s The Woodlands on April 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
