John Joseph Janatsch Jr.

September 10, 1968 — July 24, 2023

John Joseph Janatsch Jr., 54, passed away peacefully in his home on July 24, 2023 in Houston, Texas. He was born on September 10, 1968 in Brooklyn, New York to John and Priscilla Janatsch. After winning many battles through life, he had lost his fight with cancer on his 13th wedding anniversary to his loving wife Leda.

He is survived by his mother, Priscilla Bailey; wife, Leda Christine Janatsch; children, Kimberli Michelle Janatsch, John Joseph Janatsch III (Hannah Marie Elizibeth Janatsch), Megan Nartker-Lackey, Patrick Joshua Stevenson (Ashley Nicole Stevenson), Gabrielle Christine Stevenson, Jeffery Michael Laskey, Tracie Christine Pena, Adalene Christine Fendt, and Chelsea Dawn Jordan; sisters, Kristine Riley (Shawn Riley) and Marion Slaughter; 15 grandchildren; aunts, Suzan Shwab and Patricia Littler (George); along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a countless number of friends, along with his family at The Wildcatter Saloon and BFE Rock Club. John is preceded in death by his father, John Joseph Janatsch, Sr. and brother Andrew Janatsch.

He truly loved his kids, grandchildren, friends, music, but above all, the love of his life, Leda. It is hard to put this type of passion into words. He was a well-respected music promoter in the Houston, Katy, and surrounding areas. He was very involved with his community and highly enjoyed organizing benefits to help the underdog when he could. He was also a DJ and many knew him as the manager of Second Chance Productions. Through the many years he had blessed others by being the extraordinary person he was. To this day, even in his passing, he still continues to influence others in many ways.

John's outlook and determination was an inspiration for many in this ultimate fight with Cancer. Through his many benefits, speaking events and his own relatable tales he had inspired so many to keep pushing within the cancer community as well as everyday life. He was granted a humanitarian award for his dedication and outreach to many. John's love and work for music had an impact on many as well. He had spent countless hours and days working with bands, venues, and other organizations to bring joy and life to every scene he could. He will be truly missed, but the legacy he leaves will continue on for generations.
