John Paul Jacobs

November 18, 1929 — February 9, 2020

John Paul Jacobs, age 90, went home to his Lord and Savior on February 9, 2020 in Spring, Texas. He was born on November 18, 1929 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Anna Josephine (Brunowskis) and Thomas Jacobs. John had one older sister, Julie Wolfe, and a twin brother, Fred. He graduated from Central High School, Scranton Tech, and Carnegie Tech. He took his education to pursue a career as a chemist and salesman for Merck, working with filtration and purification systems.

John was an avid golfer and played all over the world including Pebble Beach. He even made a hole in one. John loved traveling, especially visiting different ports his son’s Navy ships pulled into. John watched ALL sports and was a huge fan! He also loved going to the casinos. Raising his four children and being a grandfather to 14 and great-grandfather to 24 was his greatest accomplishment along with being married to the love of his life, Anita (Coscia) for 63 years.

John was a member of Spring Baptist Church for 46 years where he was active in many ministries including leading the doxology for Sunday School, cooking for monthly prayer breakfast, and singing in the choir. He was ordained a deacon in 1995. John loved the Lord and it showed in the way he put God first in his life. John believed everything had value, so don’t throw anything away, you just might need it someday.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother; grandson, Stephen Tankersley; and great-granddaughter, Paisley Grace Tankersley. He is survived by his wife, Anita Marie Jacobs; children, Wendy Bain (Mike), Tom Jacobs (Kathi), Linda Duecker, Jake Jacobs (Jeanne); grandchildren, Erica Fosdick (Trey), Natalie Blakely (CJ), Heather Holmes (Greg), Mat Tankersley (Lacey), Maggie Bain, Jessica Cummings (Kyle), Ashley Jacobs, Ricky Jacobs, Candace Mastrobattisto (Damon), Josh Horner (Christine), Dee Dee Villarreal (Orlando), Natalie Duecker, John G Jacobs II, Alexis Jacobs; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and loved ones who will miss him dearly.

The funeral service is at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Spring Baptist Church, 633 E Louetta Rd, Spring, TX 77373. A private family burial will follow at Klein Cemetery in Pinehurst. In lieu of flowers, donations and contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. ( www.stjude.org )
