John Edward Ditto

May 13, 1951 — September 27, 2024

John Edward Ditto, known affectionately by family as “JD,” passed away on September 27, 2024, at the age of 73. He was born in Houston, TX, on Mother’s Day, May 13, 1951, to Marguerite Ditto Carpenter and John O. Ditto Jr.

John (JD) was a cherished brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his loving sister, Denise Ditto Satterfield and her husband, Frank; his brother, Russell Ditto; step-sisters Karen Little Boze and Connie Little Dustin; and a loving extended family that includes his nephew, John Newsome and wife Kim; niece, Alisha Newsome Campbell; nephew, Chris Ditto and his wife, Jennifer; niece, Leah Lynch; and great-niece Madison Cooke and her husband, Clay.

In the 1980s, John (JD) moved to Southern California, where he worked as a realtor for First Team Realty for 15 years. He later returned to Houston, where he continued his career in real estate, working for a real estate lawyer and title company until his retirement.

After retiring, John (JD) discovered a knack for writing and created a novella book series titled Can Man, which allowed him to share his imaginative talents. This was his passion. Can Man is now his legacy and will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A lover of gardening and nature, JD found joy in the outdoors and cherished the companionship of his dogs, Dora and Bella.

Throughout his life, John (JD) was known for his fun-loving spirit, warm smile, and infectious laughter that brought joy to everyone he met. He never met a stranger, and his laughter will be deeply missed. He will forever remain in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held on October 20, 2024, from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, Emmott Circle, 120 West Loop North Freeway, Houston, TX, followed by a Celebration of Life in the reception hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in his loving memory.

JD will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
