JoAnn (Aaron) Scarborough was born on September 1, 1936 in Wellington, a small community in the panhandle of Texas. She traded this world for a better one on Sunday morning, February 19, 2023 after an eleven year battle with Alzheimer’s. Typical of small town communities, JoAnn lived her childhood surrounded by family and close friends in a tight knit circle where everyone is your neighbor. This was a huge blessing when she suddenly lost her father at only 14 years of age. JoAnn graduated Wellington High School with honors. And after losing her fiancé in a car wreck her senior year, she went on to finish the School of Business in nearby Amarillo.
As a young adult, JoAnn ran her own flower shop, Bea’s Flowers, for years in Denver City, Texas, and co-owned Scarborough Pharmacy with her husband, Hollis. She loved to entertain and was well known as the “Hostess With the Mostest”! She was extremely active in her community while raising her family and a lifetime member of the First Methodist Church.
JoAnn and Hollis loved to travel and attended the Olympics Summer Games in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Seoul, Korea. She even served as chairperson of the Committee for Visiting American Dignitaries at the games in Seoul.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and JD Aaron; her husband, Hollis; her daughter, Faye Taylor; her son, Jim Eudy; and her brother, Cal Aaron.
JoAnn is survived by her children, David Eudy of Northlake, TX, Stacey Artique of Ville Platt, LA, Sue Coons also of Louisiana, Dana Moe of Conroe, TX, Joni Willer of Conroe, TX, and her sister Mary Beth White of Hereford, TX. Especially important, she was MiMi to 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Alzheimer’s took JoAnn’s last breath from her but it never robbed her of her spirit! She stands today still surrounded with people who love her and most importantly with The One who loved her the most. Simply put - JoAnn won!!!!
