Jeffrey Van Myers was born to Peggy & Chuck Myers in Whiting, Iowa on August 14, 1959.
The rambunctious young boy was born to ride; loving motorcycles, music, fast cars, waterskiing, snow-skiing, and football. The Whiting football star, coupled with being the homecoming king was truly the catch of Monona county. Living in a small town, he was surrounded by lifelong friendships which fueled the joys of his young life. And then this “catch” got caught by a simple wave from a young Neldeberg girl as he worked for the Mapco Pipelines. That simple flick of a hand caught the deep, loving brown eyes of a young Jeff, and he knew at that moment he found the love of his life, and rock in Lisa Anne Neldeberg.
There are love stories, and then there is epic love. The love that only a few are ever even lucky enough to hear about. This is the story of Jeff and Lisa. A love so pure, loyal, and committed that he worked tirelessly in those pipelines to build a strong foundation for the next chapters of their lives. Those pipelines led them from Whiting to Albuquerque, where the story grew with the birth of their beautiful blue-eyed, long-lashed son, Kyle. I do not believe that Jeff knew he could love anyone harder than he loved Lisa, but that changed the day when he looked into that fresh-faced little boy.
Jeff continued to learn and grow when his career in pipelines took him, to the next stop, Broken Arrow, OK. And, yet another chapter was added with the birth of their brown-eyed boy, Callen. This time as Jeff gazed into those soft eyes, he saw himself. And his hours growing endless as a controller, realized what mattered, was family. So he took a position as a safety trainer, back in Solon, Iowa to share more of his love and himself with his family.
From there the family journeyed to Kansas City, to Owasso, and lastly, when Enterprise took over Williams, they settled themselves in The Woodlands, TX where he became the Director of Pipeline control. The true American Dream. From painting pipelines in Whiting to leading one of the largest pipelines in the world through loyalty, commitment, and passion for taking care of “his guys” for 43 years.
After his retirement, he assumed the greatest promotion in life, full-time papa to his grandson, Cooper Jeffrey, brought into this world by his son’s love, Jacqueline. His eyes shone with pride, joy, and a deeper love than ever each time they were together. The moments together were filled with wonder and awe, as Papa embraced Cooper with memories and a love so strong, it will never be forgotten, only cherished.
Jeff Myers had a love, not many will ever experience. A commitment to a family of four, whom he loved so hard, that not many would ever strive for. A career that replicated the man himself-drive, perseverance, and loyalty-which many could never say they possessed. Jeff Myers had a life well-lived and modeled for many, a life well-loved.
