God decided that it was time for another good cowboy in Heaven so he called Jason "Jake" Rex Pelton, 37, of Montgomery to make his final ride through the gate. Jason was born on December 1, 1973 and passed away while doing what he loved best on June 11, 2011. For the past 16 years, Jason was a dedicated employee of Smith & Co. where he supervised a road construction crew.He was preceded in death by grandparents, Rex Allen Pelton, Elizabeth Lewis, Gladys and Johnie Carter, and one sister, Anita Pelton Wells. Jason is survived by his loving wife, Sheri of Montgomery, and parents, Bob and Joann Pelton. He is also survived by sisters, Latricia Dennis and husband Larry, Elizabeth Rodgers and husband Jimmy, Rhonda Manescalco and husband Frank, Balinda Pillow and husband Doug, and Margie Wiggins and husband Chris; brothers, Fred Miller, Gerald Miller and wife Brenda, and Johnie Pelton and wife Wendi; father in-law, Sandy Bell and wife Diana; mother-in-law, Jeanetta Ellis and husband Terry; brother-in-law, Charlie Bell; and sister-in-law, Jenny Nash and husband Robert. Jason also leaves behind 9 nieces, 12 nephews, 18 great nieces and nephews and numerous other family members and friends who will deeply miss him. Jason was a great friend with a huge heart that never met a stranger. All who knew him and have been touched by his cowboy ways will forever remember him as the true genuine cowboy he was.Serving as pallbearers will be Fred Miller, Gerald Miller, Johnie Pelton, Kevin Woodman, Shannon Tody, Jesse Real, Keith Woodman and Charlie Bell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Royce Lee, John Earl Phillips, Roger Gracey, Martin Worley and Donny Land. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Montgomery County Fair Scholarship Fund in memory of Jason Pelton, P.O. Box 869, Conroe, TX 77305. Our hearts are sinking like the setting sun as this cowboy rides away. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Proverbs 3:5.
