Janet Darlene Smith

February 13, 1954 — December 17, 2013

Janet Darlene Smith, age 59, left this earth peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in her heavenly home on December 17, 2013. She was born in Houston, TX on February 13, 1954, the oldest daughter of Stanley and Dorothy Smith, who preceded her in death. Janet attended James Madison High School in Houston, TX where she graduated in 1972. She was baptized and a member of Woodlands Church in The Woodlands. She dearly loved and cherished her family - her sisters, Kathy Smith Moon and husband Gregg Moon, and Deanna Marie Smith. Her sister's two daughters were like her own, Kara Moon Kowalik and husband Tommy, and Laura Moon Ferguson and husband Brad, Jr. and their children, her "babies", Keaton Kowalik, Katie Kowalik, Tyler Kowalik, Grace Ferguson, and Trey Ferguson. She was known as their "Gabby". She is also survived by her aunt, Marie Mattiza of Pearland, and her cousin, Herschel Mattiza and wife Beverly of Baytown. Janet was one of the most positive, encouraging people who ever lived. She always made sure everyone around her felt special and loved. This quote from Janet, written December 15, 2012, perfectly sums up how she wanted others to live their life and how she truly felt about everything: "Compassion and Kindness is what matters! Realize that your last day on earth, the only thing that matters is how you treated other people - your job, degree status, how much money you make, does not matter!! Wishing the best for everyone is the best attitude - too many people don't care about others and enjoy others misfortune and sadness!! Have joy in your heart, and tell at least one person every day something positive to make them feel good!! God Bless You!!"
