Jane Lovering Green, a long-time resident of Spring Valley, died on February 15, 2018 in the peaceful presence of loved ones.
Jane was born on November 2, 1927 in Medford, Massachusetts and grew up in a loving family. She was the 5th of five children of Franklin Lovering and Ruth Rutledge Lovering. She often recalled the many fond memories of growing up in Medford.
She graduated from Medford High School in 1945 and studied Physical Therapy at Sargent’s College for several years and spent some time working in Boston before marrying Robert (Bob) H. Green in 1950.
Starting in the 1970's, Jane worked for her husband as an office administrator at Morman, Moc, & Green Inc. in Houston, Texas. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, playing bridge with friends, and spending time at the ocean.
Jane’s biggest accomplishment in life was her family, she was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother. When her children were young she took part in their activities such as Boy and Girl scouts. She enjoyed family gatherings for birthdays and holidays as well as family vacations.
Jane was a longtime member of Chapelwood UMC and enjoyed taking part over the years in the Wilderness class and volunteering with others at the church library.
Jane served at MAM (Memorial Assistance Ministry) and the Chapelwood UMC Library for over 15 years.
Jane is survived by her sister, Ruthe Hubbell; son Jonathan [wife Ann]; daughters: Cindy Miller and Lauren Waggoner [husband John]; daughter-in-law: Trisha Green; grandchildren: Kristen Gunn, Rachael Henderson, Genevieve Miller, Mary Green, Valori Waggoner, Michael Waggoner, and John Miller; great grandchildren: Roam and Jane Gunn and Jack Henderson. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Green and her son, David T. Green, and granddaughter, Sarah Jane Green.
A Memorial service will be held in the Chapel located at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay St, Houston, TX 77024 on March 3, 2018 at 2pm, reception to follow. The church asks that attendants please enter through Entrance A off of Greenbay Road and enter the church through the youth building.
