James William Stoddard, 71, of Montgomery, Texas passed away peacefully on August 16, 2022. He was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland. He attended Cole High School in San Antonio, Texas, and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Geology and minors in Math, Physics, and Chemistry. He served in the Air Force from 1974 to 1978 and served as Chief Traffic Controller. He started his career as a field geologist and then started work at Halliburton Energy Services. He retired from Halliburton after thirty years working in technical services-logging and perforating. He worked overseas in Venezuela and then worked at the Houston office until his retirement. He received a lung transplant on October 4, 2021, and he lived almost a year free of oxygen. He was able to enjoy his love of fishing, his garden, and the companionship of his friends in the Bentwater Community. He was a renaissance man with many talents. He was never married. He is preceded in death by his parents Ayres and June Stoddard. He is survived by his sister, Susan Hutchcroft. Contributions may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
