James Martin Beck, Jr.

August 21, 1948 — May 24, 2024

James Martin Beck, Jr., 75, of The Woodlands, TX passed peacefully into the glory of heaven with his loving wife at his bedside on Friday, May 24, 2024. Jim was born August 21, 1948 in Blue Island, IL to James Martin Beck, Sr. and Lois Stein Beck. He married the love of his life, Deanna Kay Pence on November 16, 1974.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lois Beck, sister Lynn Schweiss, and brother Tom Beck.

Jim is survived by his wife (of almost 50 years!) Deanna, his daughter Brooke Keeney (Randy), son Matt (Day), grandchildren Lincoln, Abby, Anna, Theo, Tyler, Andrew and Travis, sisters Lora, Leslie, Lisa, brother Andy and many nieces and nephews.

Jim worked for thirty years as an accountant in the steel industry as well as a financial consultant. Jim surrendered his life to Jesus Christ in 1990 and was a longtime member of Bible Study Fellowship and an active member of The Woodlands First Baptist Church. He devoted his life to loving and serving his family and community. Jim used his lifelong love of baseball to serve on mission trips to Germany and served faithfully with the Texas Baptist Men in hurricane and disaster relief. Jim loved to travel with his wife and has walked the streets of Jerusalem, climbed Machu Pichu, followed the steps of the apostle Paul in Greece and Turkey, visited the home of Anne Frank in Amsterdam, and traversed the battlefields of WWII in France and Belgium. He loved his grandkids and spent countless hours playing games, reading books, telling stories, giving advice, playing catch and cheering them on in school and sports. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame fan in all their up and down seasons. Jim fought the good fight of faith all the way to the finish line. We are certain he is hearing, “Well done! My good and faithful servant,” and we are looking forward to the day we will see him again.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at The Woodlands First Baptist Church with lunch to follow. Family will meet friends and loved ones beginning at 10:00 AM prior to the service.
