Hollis Earl Scarborough, 85, passed away August 23, 2017, in Conroe, Texas. He had been in declining health for many years. He was born on March 19, 1932, in Snyder, Texas. After graduating from high school he served his country in the Navy, and ended his time of service in 1955 at the age of 23. Hollis attended Texas Tech University and graduated from the University of Houston with a B. S. in Pharmacy. He owned a local pharmacy in Denver City, TX, from 1962-1990. Following the sale of that pharmacy, he continued working relief in various stores. He purchased a second pharmacy in 1992, and retired for a second time in 2002. Hollis and his wife, JoAnn, moved to Denton, TX in 2002, where he was a member of the First Baptist Church. They moved a final time to Conroe, TX in 2014. Hollis loved owning his pharmacies and especially enjoyed getting to know his customers. His favorite hobby was Friday night high school football games, including following his favorite teams throughout the playoffs. He also loved going to the local high school track meets. He and JoAnn enjoyed traveling, attending the Olympic Games, and being with their friends. Hollis is survived by his wife, JoAnn Scarborough, who resides in memory care in Conroe, TX; children Stacey Roche and Sue Coons; step-children, David Eudy, Jim Eudy, Dana Moe, and Joni Willer (Dan Dominey). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Hollis was preceded in death by his parents, Hardy and Coy Scarborough; daughter, Faye Taylor; sisters, Mary Greene and brother-in-law Jim Greene; Dana Whitson; and great grandson, Mark Jackson.
