Gordon J. Lentz, age 76, passed away on May 10, 2020 in The Woodlands, Texas. He was born on June 18, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Kathryn (Heath) and Lawrence R. Lentz. Gordon grew up in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Devilbiss High School in 1960. He continued his education at Ohio University, receiving a B.S. and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering; as well as a M.S. in Operation Research and a Ph.D in Business Management from Illinois Institute of Technology.
He lived in Minooka, Illinois from 1970 to 1996 where he served as a girls little league softball coach from 1976 to 1990. He moved to The Woodlands in 1996. He worked for Lyondell Bassel and its predecessors from 1970 to 2008. He then worked for M&H Energy Services from 2011 to 2016. Though Gordon enjoyed his work, he really enjoyed traveling, gardening, sports, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also believed in God and was a member of The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church where he served as an ordained deacon and elder, Stephen Minister, mission outreach moderator, and blood bank coordinator.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Corliss Carter Lentz; children, Jennifer Lentz, Rebecca (Richard) Schiltz, Christopher (Valerie Fuller) Lentz; grandchildren, Tesia Schiltz (Zach Bundies), Tyler Schiltz, Kathryn Schiltz, Brianna, James and Alexander Lentz; siblings, Thomas (Judy) Lentz, David (Jeri) Lentz, and Marjorie (David) Porter; as well as many other loved ones and friends that will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations and contributions be made to The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church, African Partnership Group in The Woodlands, and the Montgomery County Food Bank in Conroe, Texas.
Due to Covid-19, services for Gordon are delayed. When possible, he will be interred at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. A Celebration of Life service will follow at The Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church in The Woodlands.
