Gladys Janell Barnes

August 16, 1940 — February 12, 2022

Gladys Janell Barnes, 81, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on February 12, 2022 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Mull, Arkansas on August 16, 1940 to the late Lula and Omer Maudlin. She met her first husband, Dale Faulkenberry, in Yellville, Arkansas. They moved to Gleed, Washington in the mid 1950’s. She attended Naches High School in Naches, Washington. Her and Dale married in Gleed in 1956. Dale died in a truck accident in 1972. She later remarried in 1974 to the late Robert C. Barnes, and moved to Denver, Colorado.

She worked at Price Cold Storage and packed apples at Packing Co. Her and Dale moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1964. Janell then worked in property management for 30 years.

She loved to camp and read. She was a gentle, loving, generous person; always there for family and friends. Her passing leaves a void in the family that will be filled with fond memories.

She was a member of Southeast Church of Christ in Aurora, Colorado.

Janell was preceded in death by her parents, Lula (Davenport) and Omer Maudlin; first husband, Glenn Dale Faulkenberry; second husband, Robert Camp Barnes.

She is survived by her sister, Teresa (Andy) Smith of Selah, Washington; two children, Timothy Dale “Timmy” (Julie) Faulkenberry of Muscle Shoals, Alabama and Tammy Lynn “Sissy” (Greg) Barker of Montgomery, Texas; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and another one on the way.

A celebration of Janell’s life will be held at a later date.
