Gabriel “Owen” Baker, age 15, passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2022. He was born on September 5, 2006 in Dover, Delaware. Growing up, Owen always had a smile on his face and loved to explore the outdoors, whether on the beach or deep in the woods. He loved his sister, Aymee, deeply and looked forward to being like his dad, involved in the military dreaming of graduating from West Point and becoming a Green Beret and being surrounded by his own children someday.
Owen attended school through the third grade in Dover before moving in 2015 to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he attended fourth grade at Manheim Township’s Schaeffer Elementary. In 2016, Owen moved into the Hempfield school district to attended fifth and sixth grades at Centerville Elementary. He moved with his family to Texas in 2019 and attended Bear Branch Jr High in Magnolia and Magnolia High School for his freshman year.
Owen loved working with and riding horses and he also loved working on automobiles. He was a member of the Magnolia High School football program. He was also a member of the Priesthood Quorum of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Owen was a connoisseur of anything sugary, cupcakes and anything with lemon. He loved watching Sci-Fi movies and his favorite tv show was the Big Bang Theory.
Owen was fiercely empathetic as a friend and loved to serve others. He had a sharp, sarcastic sense of humor and was loved by his family, extended family and church family.
He is survived by his parents, Gabriel and Janet Baker and Kandyce and David Russell; siblings, Aymee Baker, Xander Baker, Meghan Russell, Tyler Russell, Michaela Russell, Timothy Young and Abigail Young; and his grandparents, Tanya and Charles Baker, Phillip Knight and LaVonne Thomas.
Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 9:30 am on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 15940 Old Conroe Rd, Conroe, Texas 77384, where a 10:30 am funeral will be held. Graveside service and interment will follow at 2:30 pm in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lovelady, Texas.
