Everett Newton "Tommy" Thomas

November 24, 1918 — August 17, 2017

Our sweet Dad and Pawpaw left this earth for his heavenly home early on August 17, 2017 in Montgomery, Texas. He was born on November 24, 1918 in Charleston, West Virginia.

He became a Texan by choice when he met his future wife, Valrea, at church one Wednesday evening while serving in the Army during WW2 in Austin. They were married 68 years when she passed away in 2012.

After WW2, Dad graduated from Southwestern Assembly of God College in Waxahachie. He then entered the Air Force where he retired after 27 years of active duty. He was one of the few who served in WW2, the Korean conflict and Vietnam. Dad was a loving soul, a gentle spirit. He loved to sing and play his guitar. His grandkids loved to hear him sing his life's theme sing, Keep on the Sunny Side.

He is survived by daughter, Sandi Preddy and her husband, Henry, of Montgomery; granddaughter, Tami and husband Wayne Risher; and grandsons, Scott Preddy and wife Julianne and Marshall and his wife Jordan. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Ashleigh Burian, Hanna Smith, Zack Risher, Lindsey Risher, Patrick Preddy, Wil Preddy, and twin girls Avery and Quinn Preddy, and one great great grandson, Alexander.

Special thanks to the wonderful and loving staff at Silver Hills Assisted Living for their care these past few years and to Seasons Hospice. Amazing thanks to his hospice Music Therapist who brought great joy to his soul.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at April Sound Church, 67 ½ April Wind Drive S, Montgomery, Texas 77356, with a reception to follow. Graveside services and burial will be at 3:30 PM in the Bagdad Cemetery in Leander, Texas.
