Elmer Glynn Kirksey, age 83, passed away on March 14, 2019 in The Woodlands, Texas. He was born on May 10, 1935 in Crockett, Texas to Ike and Mary Ann Kirksey. He loved the railroad and devoted a career of many years to the Southern Pacific Railroad. While doing so, he started up a family that grew to many blessings with the passing years. He was able to obtain the title of “Papa” to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to share stories of his youth and as well share the wisdom that he gained from his 83 years. He was also member of the Masonic Lodge.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William; and son, Michael Kirksey. He is survived by his son, Malcom Kirksey and wife Patti; grandchildren, Michael Sens, Jennifer, Daniel, Rachel, Nikki, Richard and Cody Kirksey; and nine great-grandkids with one on the way; and siblings, Wessey Bickerstaff, Joyce Dunlap and Pat Velez; as well as many friends and loved ones that will miss him dearly.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Eickenhorst Funeral Services, 1712 N. Frazier St. #115, Conroe, Texas 77301. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 also at Eickenhorst Funeral Services. The graveside and interment service will be held in Strong Memorial Cemetery located between 4282 – 4298 E. State Highway 294, Slocum, Texas 75839.
