Edna Frances Gregory

March 3, 1934 — December 19, 2022

Edna Frances Gregory, 88, passed peacefully from this old life to her new Life on December 19, 2022 at her home with her family at her side. She was born March 3, 1934 in Alice, Texas in Jim Wells county of Thomas Allison Jones and Zannie (Cook) Jones. Frances is survived by her daughter, Karla Ann Gregory, and her son, Kerry David Gregory with his wife Marilyn Gregory, granddaughter Bobbye Gregory Miller and her husband, Jason Miller, along with two great grandchildren Rashannie and Nautica. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman David Gregory. She is also survived by sisters Elna G. Kelly and Velda A. Rogers and brother Travis A. Jones, along with bonus grand-daughters Mischelle Hopper and Mica Chapman.

Frances met the love of her life in 1954 where they were both employed by J.C. Penny's in Conroe, TX. They married January 18, 1956. They were devoted to each other for 66 years before his passing. She missed him every day.

Frances always wanted to be a good and faithful servant to the Lord. She attended church regularly all her life as long as she had health and strength to get there and was currently a member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a volunteer at various nursing homes in Alvin, Texas and Conroe, Texas for almost 40 years where she played church hymns and presented the Gospel and words of comfort to the residents. She knitted and crocheted hundreds of sweaters, shawls and afghans over her lifetime which for the most part she gave away to those she loved and friends and acquaintances. She was an excellent seamstress and made most of the clothes she and her family wore for many years. She was well known for her annual fruitcakes that she made and gave to friends and family.

She loved to sing all her life and her biggest regret was that she could no longer sing as she once did. She started out going to singing conventions with her father and mother and even sang with a quartet on the radio for a short time. No one who ever heard her sing when she was able, could ever forget her voice, and without even trying she could “raise the roof” with her volume. It was a rich alto voice. She is singing her heart out in heaven right now praising Jesus, her lungs and heart no longer any hindrance to her whatsoever.

Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at New Bethlehem Baptist Church, 14630 Millmac Rd, Conroe, TX 77303. A private burial service will be held at graveside at a later date attended by the close family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Bethlehem Cemetery Association at P.O. Box 7232, Cut and Shoot, TX 77306.
