Earl Norman Jones

Earl Norman Jones, 79, passed away on April 1, 2020, in the company of his wife of 42 years, Irene.

He was born in Chicago on July 23, 1940, to Clinton Jones and Mildred Carter Jones, spending his childhood in Harvey, Illinois. He attended Thornton Township High School and received his GED from Big Bend Community College.

Earl entered the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17 and enjoyed a 20-year career doing what he loved. His adventurous spirit and love of travel took him to Japan, The Philippines, Guam and several bases in the United States, including in Massachusetts, California, and Arizona. His last assignment before retiring from Peterson AFB in Colorado was to RAF Upper Heyford, England, where he met Airman Irene Wasylkiewicz, who would become his wire on October 22, 1977.

After retiring from the air force, Earl worked for 26 years for General Electric as a medical systems engineer, in Indiana, California, Illinois, and briefly in England.

Earl enjoyed woodworking, motorcycling, Taekwondo, and traveling, both on group tours and self-arranged outings. His last, unfinished, project was a model railroad village.

Earl is survived by his wife, Irene Julia Jones; son, Earl Kenneth Jones (Mary); daughter, Victoria Jones; grandson, Joshua Hawley; granddaughter, Jessica Desjardin; sister, Ann McFarland; brother, Dan Jones; nieces, Kellie (Greg Goodhew) McFarland, Pamela (Edward) Julius, Linda (Walter) Bay, Annette McFarland, and Lisa Marie (Stuart) Hanke; nephew, Terrance Drake (Christy ) Jones; grandnieces, Rachel and Sarah McFarland-Goodhew, and Arianna and Marissa Hanke; grandnephews, Christopher Julius, Michael, Robert, and Matthew Bay, Adam Goodhew, and Ethan and Cameron Hanke.

There will be no services per Earl's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations and contributions be made to a charity of your choice in Earl's memory.
