Donald Nathanial Joplin was born January 13, 1948 to Benjamin and Arlene Joplin in Littlefield Texas. He had one older sibling Jean. Was involved in many sports as a youth. It was always said if he had been born anywhere but Littlefield, he would have been locked up because of his mischief. He and his little group of buddies were always tormenting someone.
He graduated Littlefield High School and then went on to South Plains Junior College. His sister had moved to Houston years before and it wasn’t long before Lubbock Texas was in His rear-view mirror. He began his career as a stationary engineer and moved on quickly to Electrician after all they made more money. He was bitten by the bug and bought his first house when he was 22 and became a landlord.
He moved to the northside of Houston and met the love of his life, Kim. They moved to the Porter area , bought a home and started a family several years afterwards.
He had moved up the ladder over the years and became apparent it was time to retrain. He had his hand in many of the buildings in downtown Houston. Kim had gone to school to get her broker's license, so In 1990 they started Suburban Realty. He loved the commercial end and land developing and soon was branching out while Kim ran Suburban.
His youngest daughter got involved in softball and he became a coach and assistant coach. It was a stress reliever from Real Estate and something he really enjoyed.
They sold Suburban in 1999, bought an Rv and travelled the United States every summer for over 10 years. In 2010 bought some land on Lake Limestone and built his dream home. He loved fishing and gardening and got to do both. Everyone loved his fish fries, fresh vegetables and yes the fresh homemade bread. He became the cook of the house and enjoyed every minute.
In 2019 they moved to Bryan to be closer to the grandkids. He continued his day trading and always searched properties for a deal.
