Donald "Don" Lanman

Donald Elbert Lanman, loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the age of 81. Don was born on August 5, 1944 in Denver, Colorado to Melvin and Christine Lanman.

He grew up in Denver, where he played football, among other sports. He was a boy scout and earned the Eagle Scout award in his teens. At 14 Don saved the life of another boy scout who had fallen into the icy Boulder Creek. He enjoyed sports, gardening, spending time with his family and caring for others.

He graduated from Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado, where he earned a Petroleum Engineering degree in 1965. Upon graduation he went to work for PanAmerican Petroleum Company. As part of his college degree, he worked a summer job in Casper, Wyoming in 1965, where he met his sweetheart, Norine Hood. They were married on April 2, 1966 in Lakewood, Colorado. Don was commissioned in the Army as 2 nd Lt. in August of 1966. He was stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia in the Corps of Engineers, then served a year in Vietnam. Don received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal,

Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal and two Overseas Bars during his service. While in Vietnam, he had the privilege to work with a few orphanages, loving on the children. Throughout his career he worked for Amoco Production, Charter Exploration, J.M. Huber Corp. and Subsurface Consultants & Associates.

Don served as a deacon at The First Baptist Church where he loved and served the Lord in caring for others. He was a faithful member serving on various committees, Mexico Mission, and Sunday School. He had heart for local missions. He loved taking trips with the First Gen as well as other activities.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Christine Lanman. He is survived by his wife Norine Lanman, son Troy Lanman, daughter LaNell Love, grandchildren: Anthony Shumake, wife Brooke, Taylor Doss, Tristin Lanman, and Uncle Ralph Holmes of Holland, Michigan.
