Curtis Wayne Oliphant, age 69, passed away on November 7, 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on December 12, 1946 in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Deer Park and graduated from Deer Park High School before attending the University of Houston. He was an energy trader for Reliant Energy, was in sales for Advantage LED and authored the book Bible Stories for Grown-ups. He was also a chaplain for St. Luke’s Hospital in The Woodlands, volunteered for prison ministry and was the first trumpet player for John Osteen. He was currently a member of The Crossing Church in The Woodlands.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Dorothy Oliphant, and his brother, David Oliphant. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Oliphant; children, Clinton and Sarah; grandchildren, Bruce, Taylor, Ryan, Brooklyn, Avery, Jocelyn, Cole and Finley; and his sisters, Carol, Susan and Loyce.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at The Crossing Church, 6265 Shadowbend Place, The Woodlands, Texas 77381. A private burial will follow in the Carmen, Nelson, Bostick Cemetery in Tomball, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pastor Jose Pascual,
