age 89, died on Sunday, March 11, 2018. She was born on October 3, 1928 in Van Alstyne, Texas to L.B. McCoy and Mary Averalee Mitchell.
After graduating from high school, she earned an associate degree and then went to work for Southwestern Telephone and later for Dr. Fouad R.D. David, a local Urologist. As a woman of faith, she was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church in Arlington, Texas before transferring her membership to the First United Methodist Church of Pasadena where she served as Church Greeter.
She was very active in community organizations. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Matron of Pasadena Chapter #711 and Seabrook Chapter #1096; Past Supreme Worthy President of the Social Order of the Beaceant and Past President of Baytown Assembly #153; Past Royal Matron of Baytown Court #1 Order of the Amaranth; Past Grand Royal Matron of the Grand Court of Louisiana, Past Royal Matron of Lake Charles, Court #7, and Past Mother Advisor, International Order Of Rainbow For Girls Pasadena Assembly #93. Her posts and activities within these organizations are too numerous to mention, but all of them were important to her.
Coy is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 65 years, Milton Frank Baker. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lynn Baker Gannaway and husband Robert; son, William Mack Baker and wife, Shirley; grandchildren, Brian Alan Baker, Jeffrey Scot Baker and wife Jessica, Breanne Rochelle Gannaway; Kelyna Michelle Gannaway and Erik Allan Hillman; and her great grandson, Oliver Scot Baker.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 pm until 7 pm on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Pasadena, 1062 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Pasadena. A short service will follow at Grand View Cemetery.
