Connor Ray Kaminski

July 28, 1997 — May 2, 2024

Connor Ray Kaminski, age 26 years, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in The Woodlands, TX. on Thursday, May 2, 2024. His departure has left a void in the lives of all who knew him. He will be missed and remembered forever.

Connor was born on the 28th of July, 1997, bringing joy to his parents, Craig and Heather Kaminski in Calgary, Alberta, Canada as well as to his grandparents Bertie Kaminski, Jim and Jan Reynolds, and his Aunts and Uncles, Cheryl Kaminksi, Barb and Joe Lazowski, and Kathy Reynolds.

At the age of 3, he came to Texas to live in The Woodlands with his parents where he soon became the older brother to Katharine (Katie) Kaminski whom he loved dearly and was her fiercest protector. Connor was fortunate to meet his best friend forever in the little boy across the street, Jordan Booker. That friendship never waned.

Connor was a kindhearted, and deeply sensitive young man. He had an amazing gift with animals and as a young boy his favorite introduction was ‘My name is Connor, and I have two kitties.’ He was fondly referred to as “the animal activist” on the block and would frequently give his elders lectures on his views about hunting. His love and care for animals expanded with the addition of a hamster, fish, dogs, and birds. He had a knack for rescuing strays so that at the time of this writing he will be dearly missed by 4 cats, 3 birds, and a dog who treasured his arrival home.

Connor went to College Park High School where he joined the orchestra and proved to be a gifted violinist and his love for music never faded. His knowledge of the violin enabled him to also have the ability to pick up and play the guitar with little training. He was most excited to recently purchase an electric guitar, which he had hopes of learning to play well. In his senior year, Connor had the privilege of visiting Japan. He had a great enthusiasm for Japanese culture and told us his favorite places in Japan were the temples, where he experienced a great sense of peace.

Always having had a gift for working with children, Connor utilized that gift as a teenager in one of his favorite roles, as a “Prefect” at the Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Church Harry Potter summer camp. After graduation from high school, he later obtained a job with the YMCA where he dedicated his time to educational programs, teaching children about robotics, 3D printing, and programming. He was instrumental in setting up these programs and his gift with children matched his gift with animals. Connor took great joy in his work and he was beloved by his students and their parents. He frequently shared stories about his students with his family, often expressing his admiration and care for them as well as his love of teaching.

Connor was very happy with his girlfriend, Alfie Ladd, and he assured us that she was ‘the one’. She was an inspiration to Connor, and at the time of his passing Connor was excited about plans for a new position at the YMCA, and was studying to return to school to pursue computer telecommunication training.

Connor was very excited to have recently gone to Canada at Christmas and was overjoyed to spend precious time with his much beloved Grandpa Reynolds, Cousins Tris and Bai, Aunties Kathy, Cheryl and Barb, and, Uncle Joe and Uncle Lynn. He had wonderful opportunities to meet and get to know extended family members and family friends who could see at once Connor’s wit, intelligence, and tender-hearted gentleness.

Connor was passionate about riding a motorcycle and that was part of his persona, the big guy with long hair, and a long beard, but also a heart of gold. His spiritual leaning was towards the ancient Norse religion Asatru, and he looked every bit the Viking. On the night of his passing, the skies opened up with ferocious thunder and lightning as he was welcomed by the Gods.

A Viking Prayer for Our Young Tender Hearted Warrior, Connor.
‘Lo there do I see my father; Lo there do I see my mother, my sisters and my brothers; Lo there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning. Lo, they do call me, they bid me take my place among them, in the halls of Valhalla, where the brave may live forever.’
