Clara Louise Styers

Clara Louise Styers, age 87, passed away on August 25, 2026, in Conroe, Texas. She was born on December 29, 1938, in Montgomery County, Texas, to Mike Wagner and Bettie Wagner.

Clara grew up along FM 1960 in Houston, Texas, at a time when it was still a dirt road. She shared a close and loving bond with her sister, Stella, and the two did everything together throughout their lives, even after they married and raised families of their own.

From a young age, Clara knew the value of hard work. As soon as she was tall enough to reach the counter, she began cutting vegetables at a neighborhood hamburger joint. She later worked at several banks before discovering her true passion for antiques.

Clara’s love for antiques led her to operate several booths in and around Conroe before eventually moving to Warrenton, where she fulfilled her dream of owning an antique shop. Over the years, she welcomed many dealers and visitors, meeting people from all over the world. Her shop even drew the attention of the Junk Gypsies, who stopped by and filmed there.

Clara loved the Lord, her family, her friends, and Polk on Saturday Night. She will be remembered for her warmth, independence, faith, and the joy she found in sharing stories, treasures, and time with the people she loved.

Clara is survived by her daughter, Debera Insel; son-in-law, Donald Insel and his wife, Patricia Insel; granddaughter, Kindra Sweeten; great-grandsons, Ty McKey and Cayden Cobler; granddaughter, Sabrina Chandler; great-grandchildren, Myah Venrick, Kylie Venrick and Tristan Venrick; grandson, Harley Gay and his wife, Erin Gay; and great-grandchildren, Avrianna Goode and Hunter Armruster.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Bettie Wagner; her spouses, Joe Radford Gay and Ralp E. Styers; and her children, Pamela L. Gay and Forest L. Gay.
