Carl Lee Watson, age 69, passed away on March 22, 2023, in Houston, Texas. He was born on May 21, 1953, in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Mesquite, Texas, where he graduated high school. Carl’s father and grandfather were both pastors. The Watson Family sang gospel music all over America. The fire inside Carl’s heart was ignited by the Lord, and he would go on for the rest of his life gladly and gratefully serving the Lord and God’s people.
In his professional career, he was brilliantly talented and gifted. From custom cabinet and flooring to homebuilding. He also drove the church buses to meetings for fellow members. This helped develop his mechanical skills as some times the buses broke down. He lived his life for the Lord and His people. Like his family before him, Carl became a Pastor and assistant Pastor of several churches, many of which he started himself. He was truly a good and faithful servant.
He married the love of his life, Joyce. They were always happy to just be together and share whatever life brought their way. Even in the darkest hour of sickness their bond was held together by eternal love. All of their lives, Carl and Joyce were members of Gospel Assembly and The Living Gospel churches.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Billy C. and Katheryn Louise (Andrew) Watson; his sister, Vivian Louise Watson; and his infant daughter, Megan Lee Watson. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Johnson Watson; children, Brian K. Johnson, Amber Lynn Jolley and husband Jordan, Carl Lake Watson; grandchildren, Alivia Jolley, Jack Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Bailey Johnson, Jacob Jolley, Jackson Jolley, Aubrey Jolley; siblings, Glenda Kay Milner and husband Mark.
“I want to thank everyone for the calls, emails, texts, gifts and outpouring of love and prayers for us and the family. I have been beyond blessed to have such a Godly man as my husband. If I could ask Carl today if he believed that God healed him, he would say, “absolutely, I am whole, happy, and healed with a new heavenly body.” – Joyce
