Brenda Sue Klotz

March 31, 1945 — August 6, 2024

Brenda Sue Bode Klotz, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born on March 31, 1945, in Brenham, Texas. Brenda was the eldest of five children born to Oscar Earl Bode Jr. and Doris Pearl Helmer Bode. Her father was in the Army and shipped out to the Philippines three days before she was born. Brenda was 18 months old when her father returned home.

She moved around as a young girl and at the age of four moved from Brenham to Sealy, Texas. Her father was in the livestock and auction business and as they purchased auction barns they moved to operate them. After Sealy they moved to El Campo, Texas, where she lived until the 8th grade. Brenda returned to Brenham her freshman year of high school when her father took over the Brenham Auction Barn.

Brenda met Larry Klotz, the love of her life, during her junior year of high school at a sock hop after a Blinn Jr. College football game. She graduated from Brenham High School in 1963 and a year later, on June 5, 1964, she and Larry married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham. In June of 2024 they joyfully celebrated 60 years together.

Together they moved several times before settling in Conroe, Texas, in 1968 where they raised their three children.

Brenda loved to travel and some of her favorite memories were trips with family and friends. As her children got older, Brenda was involved in many businesses and organizations. She owned a boutique, PK’s Fashions, with her sister Sharon. She was a member of a service sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, for 10 years. She and Larry served on the Bull Cooker BBQ Team with their dear friends for 30 years. Brenda also provided instrumental support to Larry in his custom home and storage businesses. But most of all, Brenda loved being a mother, grandmother and “quintessential host” to friends and family. Her parties for friends and Camp Mimi were the best.

Brenda valued her faith and passed her love of Christ on to her family. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of El Campo. In Conroe, she was a long time member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and over the last 30 years a member of Tree of Life Lutheran Church.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Doris Bode, and all four of her siblings, Sharon, Kathy, Butch and Bruce; as well as father and mother-in-law Herman and Louise Klotz and brother-in-law Harvey Klotz.

Left to cherish Brenda’s memory is her husband of 60 years, Larry; son Jeff Klotz and his wife Le’ann; son Steven Klotz and his wife Shannon; daughter Julie Styles and her husband Jason; grandson Klein Klotz and his wife Lynley; grandson Lawson Klotz and his wife Abigail; granddaughter Courtney Klotz; grandson Connor Klotz; and granddaughter Chloe Styles. She is also survived by sister-in-law Janet Klotz and many nieces and nephews.
