Born on July 28, 1953, in Poinsett, Arkansas, Billy Ray Raley, Sr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2025 @ 430 pm, surrounded by his family, after a difficult battle with lung cancer.
Billy lived a life rooted in hard work and a deep appreciation for the simple things.
As a skilled logger and dedicated derrick hand, Billy took pride in his craft, working tirelessly in rugged terrains and on towering rigs, always embracing the challenges of his profession. His hands told stories of grit, resilience, and an unyielding spirit.
When not working, Billy could be found sitting quietly on his porch drinking coffee and smoking a cigarette, working in his yard, or reeling in fish from his favorite spots. He believed in living life on his own terms—without fuss, without pretension—finding beauty in nature and peace in simplicity.
Above all, Billy was a devoted father, a loving husband, and a loyal friend. His laughter was infectious, his ticklishness profound, and his grouchiness unwavering. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and a reminder to savor life’s small but meaningful moments.
Billy is survived by his many grandchildren and Great grandchildren, his only daughter, Kristy, his sons Billy Jr. and Dalton, his ex-wife and mother of his children Amanda (AKA June), brother Pepper (Troy) and sister Brenda, who will forever cherish his memory. He is preceded in death by his mom and dad Troy and Leola Raley, sister Sheila and his brother Ronnie.
Ride free and cast your line, Billy. You are deeply loved and missed.
