Billy Dwayne Blackwell passed away on December 28th, 2020. He was born to Wilburn Blackwell and Lorraine Schubert on March 29, 1960. He was blessed with two brothers and two sisters. Bobby, Donna, Debbie, Doug and Billy had many adventures together during their childhood. Life was tough for them, but they always made things fun and maybe even got into some mischief as children.
Billy loved the outdoors. He loved to fish and would spend weeks at a time down at the river just living off the land and enjoying fishing. Some of his favorite times always involved a fishing pole. Billy also loved to spend time with kids. Probably because he was a big kid at heart. He always had a stash of candy that he freely shared with any kid that would come to him. He loved sharing his knowledge of the outdoors and anything else with the kids in his life.
Billy was baptized at the Young Schoolhouse Church in Upton, Texas with some of his siblings and beloved Mama. He spent much of his earthly life walking in darkness, but he always knew of the hope found in Christ.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5
Billy is survived by his children, Lanelle Reed, Samantha Blackwell, and Michael David Blackwell; his grandchildren, Whitnei & Cody Ruthven, Paitin & Cody Duncan, David Blackwell, Charlie Reed, Daniel Blackwell and Brooklyn Blackwell; his great grandchildren, Paula Grace, Haze Maverick, Dawson Lee, and Carson Tripp; his loving sister, Donna & Larry Weber; his little brother, Reggie & Trina Brooks; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that he loved. Billy also had many cousins and friends that he considered family.

Prayer for Alcoholic Abuse
Dear Lord Jesus, we come to You in deep pain and sadness for those we know who are suffering in one way or another due to alcohol abuse. Both those that have been ensnared in their own excessive alcohol addiction and also those that are badly affected by the alcoholic abuse of someone else, a spouse, a parent, a child, or a friend.
We know that You love and care for each and every addict and desire that they break free from their addiction. Remind them that Jesus died and rose again so that the power of sin and bondage to all forms of addiction might become ineffective in the life that is focused on the Lord Jesus.
We lift up all those we know who are suffering in any way, due to alcoholic abuse and addiction, especially those that we know personally, and pray that in Your grace and mercy You would do a great work in their lives, enabling those in bondage to break free of their debilitating addiction and those affected by the alcoholism of others to be kept out of harms way. May all come to a saving faith in Jesus and begin to enjoy a close walk with Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!” 1 Corinthians 15:57
