Betty Jean Stidham, known to most as “BJ” passed away on February 21, 2020 at the age of 85 in her home in The Woodlands, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Eickenhorst Funeral Services at 1712 N. Frazier, Suite 115, Conroe, Texas 77301.
She was the third of five children born to Newman C. Kuykendall and Henrietta (Patterson) Kuykendall on March 2, 1934 in Cullman, Alabama.
Betty spent most of her career in the restaurant food and beverage industry, but after receiving the gift of a beautiful Pekingese dog, Betty became very interested in the world of AKC dog shows. Betty began showing champion bloodline Pekingese dogs. This led to her learning to groom dogs, and she later opened her own dog grooming business, Bee Jai’s Pet Grooming in Deer Park, Texas. She was a hard worker and she grew a successful business. On retirement, she passed the business down to her daughter Cindy, and the business is still going strong today.
After moving to The Woodlands, Texas at age 78, she enjoyed chatting with her circle of friends and reading. She was an avid reader and she loved to get lost in her books. But what she enjoyed most was spending time with her four daughters.
Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Broderick and her brother, John C Kuykendall.
Betty is survived by her son, Randy Stidham and his wife Freida Stidham; daughters, Debbie Yerkes, Patty Pollard, Cindy Shelton and Pam Fields and husband Mike; sisters, Sadie Kibodeaux and Carol Chambers; grandchildren, Paul Stidham, Ricky Stidham, Randy Stidham, Christy Stephens, Joey Yerkes, Jarrod Yerkes, Blake Stidham, Michaela Zubia and Brett Boettcher; great-grandchildren, Davi Stidham, Gracie Stidham, Gavin Stidham, Rhett Stephens and Zoe Stidham.
She was loved by her family and friends. She will be remembered by her great sense of humor, her laugh and radiant smile. She would only want this to be a celebration of the full life she lived with family and friends she loved. She has gone to be with the Lord but she will always be in our hearts.
