Bennie (“Ben”) Loyd Caldwell, Jr., age 69, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at his home in Houston, Texas, surrounded by his loving family and went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born in Temple, Texas on October 9, 1956, to parents, Bennie and Catharine Caldwell.
Ben lived with his parents and 3 siblings in Temple, Midland and Austin, before settling in Houston, Texas, where he met and married his adoring wife, Alicia Teel Caldwell, and together raised two exceptional sons. Ben worked in construction for over 20 years, and an additional 20 years as a Shipping & Receiving Manager. He was always available to lend a hand to build or repair anything for family and friends. He had an exemplary work ethic, believed in craftsmanship and doing every job right. He also had many interests and hobbies outside of work, including fishing, boating, hunting, building models, flying remote-controlled airplanes, air shows and racing.
Ben was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather (“Papaw”) whose happiest days were spent playing with his grandchildren and enjoying time with family and friends cruising the river and bays in Matagorda, casting a fishing line off his dock and exploring the beach for seashells and “treasure” with his faithful dog, Buster, by his side.
Ben leaves behind his loving wife, Alicia Caldwell; son Chadwick Ryan Caldwell and wife, Marianne Lynn Caldwell; son, Cody William Caldwell; grandsons, Austin Ryan Caldwell and Taylor James Caldwell; sister Donna Kiefer and husband, Ted Kiefer; sister, Carol Langley; loving in-laws, Vida Teel, Cheryl Teel Gurule’, Joseph Teel, and Christopher Glenn; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Catharine Caldwell, and his only brother, Alan Caldwell.
