Barbara Whitehead, age 79, passed away with her loving family by her side on March 25, 2019 in Jewett, Texas. She was born on April 1, 1939 to Neoma and Lawrence Stachowiak in Houston, Texas. She attended Jefferson Davis High School and graduated in 1958. Barbara met the love of her life, John Whitehead, Sr, and on October 18, 1968 they became one in the eyes of God in marriage. Together, they built a family and created many memories. From camping and fishing in the summertime, to weekend getaways at the casino. Barbara also enjoyed her quiet time and often read. She devoted many years as a receptionist to Johnson and Higgins in the oil and gas industry. She was a strong woman of faith, believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and attended Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery, Texas.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Whitehead, Sr; and daughter, Kerry May. She is survived by her children, Ginger Mathis and husband Keith, Renee Kane and husband Jimmy, Regina Burrell and husband Chuck; grandchildren, Shiann Mathis, Keith Mathis II, Heath and Ashley May, Amy Burrell, Heather Burrell, Chad Burrell, Jared and Rubi Kane, Garth Whitehead; great grandkids, Everly May, Kayson Kane, Westlynn Mathis; siblings, Linda Porter, Larry Stachowiak, Jr, and Darlene Rogers; as well as many close relatives and friends.
A private service will be held for Barbara with close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations and contributions be made to Virginia’s Hospice of Teague, Texas. The family would also like to give special thanks to JerriAnn and Erica.
