With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Hendrix, who
departed this life on June 16, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Barbara spent her life
weaving a legacy of warmth, hard work, and love. She passed peacefully at her home in Porter,
Texas.
Barbara was the beloved daughter of Frank Buck Sr., who preceded her in death, and Dorothy
Buck. She graduated from Moody High School in Moody, Alabama, Class of 1982, and later
earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Houston
Downtown in 2018 - a testament to the strong values and even stronger heart she was raised
with, making her a fighter to the very end.
Barbara spent over 20 years as a dedicated restaurant manager, a role that blended her natural
talents: hospitality, leadership, and a love of people. She had a true gift for cooking and
entertaining, connecting family, friends, and patrons alike. She was known for her holiday
decorations, which brought magic and joy to everyone.
Barbara’s family was the center of her world. She is survived by her loving husband, Don
Gampher, her children: Autumn Ewald (and husband Michael), James Hendrix Jr., and Amy
Hendrix. She was a proud grandmother to Gavin, Remington, Audrey, Phiona, and Piper.
Barbara also leaves behind her brother Frank Buck Jr, John Buck, and other close family
members.
Barbara’s memory will live on through every laughter filled gathering, with every loving meal
prepared, and each heart she touched with kindness, joy, and strength.
A funeral service will be held on August 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Kingwood First Baptist
Church, with a reception immediately following. Barbara will be laid to rest with her late
husband, James Hendrix Sr, in Weogufka, Alabama. A memorial service for friends and family
in Alabama will be held on November 23, 2025; final details will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Barbara’s honor to Kingwood
First Baptist Church.
Barbara Ann Hendrix was a light to those who knew her—a wife, mother, grandmother,
