Barbara Ann Fisher was called home to be with her heavenly Father on December 23, 2024, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 85. Born on August 12, 1939, in Joaquin, Texas, Barbara was the beloved daughter of William Elvin Presswood and Bernice Thelma Presswood, who preceded her in death.
Barbara grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana, but after her marriage to Paul Johnson, a newly enlisted Airforce airman, moved to California, where their daughter Rhonda was born. Upon returning to Louisiana, she soon began a career with Continental Oil Company (now Conoco Phillips) and dedicated over 20 years of her professional life to Conoco, where she worked until her retirement. Barbara eventually settled in Houston and later Magnolia, Texas.
Barbara loved her family and especially loved taking pictures with her grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and was an expert at creatively naming her pet cats. Her life was enriched by her love of dancing, flower gardening, classic country music, and of course, Elvis Presley. She enjoyed dressing up and anything to do with fashion and, for a few years, owned a dress shop and resale clothing stores in Houston and Pinehurst, Texas. Barbara also found joy in giving back to her community through her volunteer work with the Lions Club in Houston.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Rhonda Johnson Perales; grandsons Richard Perales Jr. and his wife Catherine, Colton Perales and his wife Hailey, and granddaughter Randi Perales; and great-granddaughters Hailey, Blaiklee, Emmalyn, and Mackenzie. Barbara is also survived by her brother Nelson Presswood and his wife Marlene; nephews Scott Presswood and his wife Paula and Shane Presswood and his wife Autumn; as well as great-nieces and nephews Nicole, Katie, Billy, Rylee, Lucy, and Chase.
Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
