Ashley Dawn Sooter

November 2, 1984 — June 1, 2021

Ashley Dawn Sooter, left her earthly body on June 1, 2021 at the age of 36 years. Ashley Dawn Mason was born on November 2, 1984 in Houston, Texas to parents Bonnie and Michael Mason and her older brother, Joshua. The family lived in Texas most of her life, with the exception of a couple of her toddler years that were spent in Ohio. Ashley eventually settled in Montgomery County, but had a dream of one day living in the mountains of Colorado.

As a child, Ashley was a happy, curious girl who loved animals, swimming, dancing, and talking. She was always busy; if her hands weren’t moving, her mouth was, and, usually both were going at the same time. She was full of life and energy that seemed to bubble from the inside. She was a competitive swimmer for many years, and was particularly good at freestyle and butterfly. She loved to be moving, so was enrolled in tap, ballet, and jazz dance lessons; she looked forward to participating in the annual Nutcracker Ballet where she danced various parts over the years. In high school, she turned to her love of animals and joined the FFA, raising a pig and then a heifer she had won at the Harris County Calf Scramble. She could never resist the urge to pick up a stray dog and she loved riding horses.

Ashley was full of life, and loved to be around people. She didn’t sneak into a room, but rather blew into a room with her voice loudly announcing her arrival. She loved shopping, make up, perfume, and all things blingy! She had a flair for the dramatic, and could liven up a room with a good story or wise crack.

Ashley followed her mother’s and grandmother’s footsteps into real estate as an escrow agent. She loved the challenge of learning the intricate aspects of title work and was committed to being successful in whatever she was tasked to do.

Ashley became a Christian by accepting Jesus as her Savior in August 2017, and was baptized at Gateway Church in Dallas on January 27, 2018. She was on her path with Him: getting to know Him through His word, prayer and praise. In recent weeks, Ashley shared that she felt God was reaching out to her through a particular song that she seemed to hear everywhere, so she was making a special effort to spend time focused on Him. With the suddenness of her passing, this information provides some comfort knowing He had her hand.

Ashley is survived by her three children, Tucker and Jillian Francis, and Stella Sooter; her two step-children, Taylor and Kevin Francis; her parents, Bonnie and Mike Mason; grandmother, Corinne Myers; and brother, Josh Mason; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins that will miss her dearly.

A celebration of Ashley’s life will be held from 1 to 3 pm, Friday, June 11, 2021 in the Harbor Room at the Bentwater Yacht Club, 200 Bentwater Harbor Drive, 77356. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter.
