Anita Foster Singleton

January 29, 1943 — April 27, 2025

Anita Foster Singleton, 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Conroe, Texas, on Sunday, April 27, 2025. She was born on January 29, 1943 in Joaquin, Texas, to parents William Emmet Foster and Essie Lee Foster. She played basketball at Joaquin High School and, upon graduation, attended Panola Junior College where she fell in love with her future husband. She then attended East Texas Baptist University where she played college basketball and was named Most Valuable Player on the Intramural team. After birthing two daughters, she went to work at Campbell Taggart Baking Companies, Inc., in Dallas, Texas where she was a Senior Executive Secretary for the five top executives in the company until a move to Conroe ended her role there. In the 1980s she accepted a secretarial position at First Baptist Church Conroe where she worked for 28 years before retiring. She loved playing sports -- particularly tennis, basketball, and softball – which she played often with her grandchildren and neighborhood children.

Anita leaves behind her loving husband of 59 years, Herbert Preston Singleton; daughter, Tina LaRea Dawson and her husband, Rege; daughter, Lori Lee Maxcey and her husband, Doug; grandchildren: Jon Skidmore, Summer Boyle and her husband Don, Justin Maxcey and fiancé Kendahl Sorosiak, and Dylan Maxcey; great-grandchildren: Don Preston Boyle and Wyatt James Boyle; and sister Joy Meaux and husband Jerry; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by both parents; two brothers: Ray Foster and Guy Foster; and sister Jimmie Bowlin.
