Richard Daniel Kay, age 73, passed away on May 21, 2021 at his home in Conroe, Texas. He was born on February 25, 1948 in Oak Park, Illinois. He grew up in Illinois and moved to California in 1963. He heard the call to serve his country and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed aboard the USS Coral Sea CVA 43, Aircraft Carrier in the crash crew. After his discharge, he decided to become a stuntman. He joined a school where he met Don and became fast friends. Don had been part of a Western Gunfight Team and asked Rick to join and restart the team again. They put an ad in the local newspaper asking for new people to join the group, Patricia Valdez, joined and that’s how they met. In 1973 Rick & Pattie were wed and built a beautiful life. he became a truck driver and made it his profession, driving all across the country. Richard was a member of the Catholic Church, the Powder Burners Gunfight Team and the Goldwing Road Rider Association. Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia Kay; his brother Jim Kay, Glendale AZ. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Eickenhorst Funeral Services, located at the corner of Frazier and Wilson, 1712 N Frazier St #115, Conroe, TX 77301. The Rosary will be held from 7 PM to 7:30 PM. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on the following day, Wednesday, June 30. Graveside and interment will follow at 1:15 PM in Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 7703 where military honors will be rendered.
