    May 31, 1937 - June 10, 2020

Marion Emory Eickenhorst, born May 31, 1937, in Anderson, Texas to Edwin and Lena (Becker) Eickenhorst, passed away, Wednesday, June 10, 2020. In 1942, Marion and family moved to Houston where he attended Immanuel Lutheran grade school and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Lutheran High School. After high school he completed his military duty in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962. He then went to work for the U.S. Postal service and served as a postal carrier for 31 years. After retiring from the postal service, he enjoyed running both a lawn service and an antique & junk business for 17 years. Marion married his sweetheart, Marlene Hirsch, daughter of Vernon and Lydia Hirsch, on June 22, 1963 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Houston. They were blessed with two children, Brad and Dana. Marion loved serving the Lord in various capacities in his church homes. He served on the Board of Education, Board of Trustees, and the usher team at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He also served his community by serving on the Lutheran High School Board. In 1988, he and his family transferred to Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on several committees. Marion loved his family, especially his three grandchildren. He is known among family and friends for drinking coffee, having a ready smile, and always prepared to tell a joke. He enjoyed visiting and laughing with friends and family. Marion is survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years, Marlene; children, Brad Eickenhorst (wife Rebecca), Dana Stoerkel; and grandchildren, Kailey and Justin Stoerkel. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Kyle, his son-in-law, John, his brothers, Melvin Eickenhorst and Edwin Eickenhorst, and his parents, Edwin and Lena Eickenhorst. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Oikos Lutheran Church, 522 Lindale St, Houston, TX 77022. The funeral service will be invitation only due to the current COVID-19 restrictions. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Houston Ave, Houston, TX 77007.
