Katharine "Kathy" Lyon
February 24, 1963 - December 21, 2020
Katharine “Kathy” Lyon, age 57, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 21, 2020, at her home in Conroe, Texas surrounded in love by her husband, children and grandson. Born Katharine True, February 24, 1963, in Kittery Maine to Charles and JoAnn True, Kathy is survived by David Lyon, her best friend and loving husband of 36 years, who cared for her tirelessly and tenderly through her difficult eighteen-month battle against cancer. She is also survived by her children; Brittany, Jonathan and Loren Lyon, Gabrielle Lyon and Nate Wisniewski, Benjamin, Christian, Nathaniel and Emily Lyon, Jordan and Abigail Lyon, Justin, Glory, and Xan; her grandson Caleb Wisniewski, her sister Kim Hayes and husband Pat, and her father, Charles True and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathy was a beloved daughter and sister. She grew up traveling with her parents and sister, living all over the States, in Guam, and in the Bahamas. She proudly served her country in the US Navy, and met her husband, David, while they were both on guard duty at Corry Station in Pensacola, FL. Kathy left the Navy to devote her life to being a treasured and loving wife, and a dedicated homeschool mother, ending her seven years of service with the rank of Cryptologic Technician, Second Class. Kathy always loved a good laugh and was the instigator of many prank wars and joke swaps at home. She loved to travel, her adventuring spirit led to many road trips around the States with her family, and even as far as England, Japan, and China with her husband. She had a creative mind and loved sewing, quilting, and decorating. Kathy was always making people gifts and would jump at the chance to decorate for events like baby showers and weddings. She was a committed church member, serving the church body where needed, and loved to sing in the church choir as well as at home. She was immensely proud of her ten children, their spouses, and her adored grandson. While her absence has left a large void in her family’s lives, we will continue to be inspired by her to live our lives filled to the utmost with a love for our Lord, laughter, love for one another, and a dedication to serving those who need us most. Interment will be a private service for immediate family members at Houston National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, December 29th, 2020 at Mims Baptist Church 1609 Porter Rd, Conroe, TX 77301. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the family to help defray accumulated medical and funeral expenses. Donations can be made via Venmo: @dlyonpride or checks can be sent to Calvary Baptist Church 3401 N. Frazier, Conroe TX 77303 with Kathy Lyon in the memo line.
