Jimmy Ralph Simpson, 78, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 17, 2022. He was born on November 29, 1943 in San Angelo, TX to Eppa Alexander Simpson and Edna Atnip.
Jimmy lived in Winters, TX and attended school in the Winters Independent School District where he received his GED. He worked at the local gas stations for Mr. Floyd Sims while also serving in the Army Reserves. He met the love of his life, Sharon Elaine Campbell, after high school in 1967, and they were married on March 16, 1968 at Southside Baptist Church in Winters, TX. Shortly after marriage, Jimmy secured a job with Shell Oil Company in Deer Park, TX and moved to nearby Baytown to spend the next 50 plus years building their legacy.
Jimmy was a man of faith who was devoted to his family and cared deeply for everyone around him. His work ethic and integrity were unprecedented. He was generous with his time particularly with youth and young adults. He loved to laugh, even if it was at his own expense. His hobbies included bicycling, marathoning, coaching youth sports, fishing, hiking, hunting, and traveling with his family. His favorite place to visit and hike was Estes Park, Colorado. He was an avid member of the Free and Accepted Masons in which he was a Past Worshipful Master in Masonic Lodge #1042 in Wingate, Texas. He often served various charities including Shriner’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital, and various Masonic charitable events.
Jimmy was proceeded in death by his father, Eppa Simpson and his mother, Edna Atnip Beaty. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Elaine Simpson; children, Cobie Delaine Chavers and husband, Jason Chavers of the Woodlands, TX, Sharon LaNoi Turner and husband Frank Turner of The Woodlands, TX, and James Brent Simpson and wife, Natalie Simpson of Mont Belvieu, TX; grandchildren, Jason Ryan Chavers of League City, TX, Christin Laine Eller and husband, Matthew Eller of Kingwood, TX, Morgan Elaine Turner of The Woodlands, TX, Luke Alexander Chavers of The Woodlands, TX, Emily Peyton Turner of The Woodlands, TX, Brayden Brent Simpson of Mont Belvieu, TX, and Kate Joele Simpson also of Mont Belvieu, TX; sister, Betty Martha Cowlishaw and husband Jim Cowlishaw of Paris, TX, sister in law, Glenda Ellen McCullough and Wayne of Bakersfield, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Eickenhorst Funeral Services, 1712 N Frazier St #115, Conroe, TX 77301. The graveside service will be at 2 PM on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories, 5701 US Hwy 277 S, Abilene, TX 79606. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations and contributions be made to his Masonic Lodge #1042, PO Box 211, Wingate, TX 79566.
