    Geneva Wear

    January 28, 1933 - June 18, 2018

    Mrs. Geneva Wear, daughter of Virgil Gier and Clara Katherine Souza Gier, was born in Modesto, California on January 28, 1933, and passed away June 18, 2018 at her home in Splendora, Texas. Gene was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Johnny Catrina; step-mother, Mary Gier. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Myrna Loy (ML) Wear, whom she met in San Francisco, California after having served in the United States Women’s Army Corps and earned the rank of corporal. Gene was also preceded in death by her daughter, Katherine Lynn Wren; sister, Lila West, and brother, Herman Gier. Gene is survived by her sister, Nancy Costa and husband Walter, brother Roy Gier and wife Doreen; brother in law, Rodger West, sister in law Rose Mahaffey; son, Robert Wear & wife Norma Rivera, son-in-law, Carl Wren; granddaughters, Claire Wren Davis and husband Jeremy, Krystle Wear, Kara Wren Henderson and husband Josh, and Kristina Wear; great grandsons, Chance Davis, Kyler Gene Petrus, and Jackson Davis as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gene grew up in Turlock, California, she loved Hollywood movies, collecting movie star pictures, record albums and collectibles. Gene’s favorite actress was Betty Grable, in her later life her favorite actress was Sandra Bullock. Gene did secretarial work before attending the Philco Ford Institute and worked in the field of electronic assembly for a number of years before retiring in the early 80’s. She loved making arts and crafts, painting, sketching and was involved in TOPS and Senior Circle. The family wishes to give special thanks to care givers Mrs. Iva, Mrs. Jessica and the wonderful staff of Bristol Hospice for enabling us to care for our mom in her final days, at home with her furry companion, Koala Chihuahua. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the Houston National Cemetery. The address is 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive Houston, Texas 77038.
