Jeremiah Joseph Reidy Jr. was born on October 20, 1963 to Maryann and Jeremiah Sr. in Elizabeth, NJ. He grew up in Edison, NJ with two sisters, Brenda and Susan, and two brothers, Thomas and Daniel. He was baptized at Sacred Heart and attended J.P. Stevens High School. Always a true patriot, Jeremiah answered a calling to duty to his country and joined the US Army in 1981 at 17. He served as an Air Defense Artilleryman for 6 years, notably in the 3rd Infantry Division. While serving he met his future wife Chonghae Grace, a fellow soldier, on Kitzingen Army Base in Germany. They got married on August 4, 1984 in New Jersey and went on to have 3 sons, Jeremiah III, Brendan, and Peter.
After completing military service, he moved back to his hometown and gained employment with Mobil Oil. He continued to work for ExxonMobil in various roles and locations where he touched many lives. Jeremiah started in operations at Port Mobil to working as a Terminal Manager in Norfolk, VA, followed by a Fuel Supervisor with the Marine Group in Fairfax, VA. His career continued to working as a Global Supply Chain Manager in Coral Gables and finally to Houston, TX where he worked as a negotiator and held the role of Senior Logistics Advisor when he celebrated his retirement from the firm in 2021 after 33 years.
Jeremiah was active and enjoyed various social and service organizations. With a passion for motorsports Jeremiah rode the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge, a cross country road race, in its inaugural year and has stayed actively involved with alumni and organizers over the years. Similarly, he raced with the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association, he was in the Grid Fillers with the Ultimate Dirt Bike Riders, and he volunteered as a certified Sawyer at Sam Houston National Forest maintaining
the trails.
Jeremiah was preceded in death by his father Jeremiah, his sister Susan, and his brother Thomas. He is survived by his wife Chonghae, his mother Maryann Reidy-Brake, his sister Brenda, his brother Daniel, his sons Jerry, Brendan, and Peter and wife Janelle, and his granddaughter Naomi, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 9:00 AM om April 5th at First Methodist Church of Conroe, 4308 W Davis St, Conroe, TX 77304. The funeral service will start at 10:00 AM with a reception to follow at 11:00 AM. The graveside and burial will take place at 1:15 PM in Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038. Those wishing to attend need to leave the church at noon. We will be in Lane 2 and can begin lining up at 1:00 PM. Maps will be provided at the church.
