Cristian Oscar Velasquez

December 6, 1994 — December 14, 2021

Cristian Oscar Velasquez, 27, passed away on December 14, 2021. He was born on December 6, 1994, in the City of Orange, Ca. From early childhood, Cristian was put on this earth to help others. At the age of 5, Cristian saved his mother's life by calling 911 after finding her in diabetic shock. To honor Cristian’s heroism, the Anaheim Fire Department held a ceremony at the Anaheim City Council Chamber and made him an honorary fireman. The newspaper clipping depicted Cris as “Mom’s little guardian angel”. His loving nature made him a wonderful son, nephew, grandson, older brother, cousin, friend, and partner. Despite growing up with so much adversity, Cristian rose above it and always strove to be a better man. His protective nature made all those special to him feel safe around him. He allowed challenges to fuel him to work harder. He loved deeply and was never afraid to show it. His happiness was infectious, and he loved making everyone laugh with his goofy antics. Having just turned 19 Cristian proudly joined the Navy. Cristian served on the USS Abraham Lincoln in Norfolk, Virginia as an EM3. He was trained as an electrician mate and firefighter. His military education also included Recruit Training Command, Engineering Professional apprenticeship, Basic Engineering Common Core Advanced, Electrician's Mate apprenticeship, Electrician Strand 9C. During Cristian’s Naval Service he received the following commendations: Navy Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Humanitarian Service Medal; Navy Pistol Marksmanship ribbon. Once his Naval Reserves obligation was completed, he became a full-time student in the summer of 2021. He had just completed his program of study to become a Wind Service Technician. Cris was eagerly working toward completing his AA to become a supervisor. A letter of acceptance into the advanced program arrived shortly after his passing. Before becoming a full-time student, he was a Field Technician who serviced and commissioned online systems for oiling gas ops globally. During that time, he fulfilled a lifelong dream, traveling around the world to exotic destinations such as Equatorial Guinea, Dubai, Canada, Qatar, Trinidad, Alaska, Spain, and Angola. He met the love of his life, Autumn, in January of 2020. The two of them were planning a life together. He is preceded in death by his mother, Monica Maria Martinez-Malo; grandfather, Vincent Cruz; survived by his father, Carlos Velasquez; son, Lincoln; siblings: Eduardo, Maelis & Aimee; grandmother "Yeya” Maria Elena; grandfather, Raul; tias, Aimee & Sandra; love of his life, Autumn; cousins, Kelsie, Dante & Brianna; and all other beloved family, friends, and friends that became family.
